Women Soldier

It’s sad really how an environment effects how you are going to be treated. If a woman in the army gets rape she won’t get help as much as a civilian. The difference? They are in army that’s it, but you see they shouldn’t be ignored like they are only because there’s a conflict of interest in the military. 20 women in the senate are finally standing up and saying enough with a new bill that will remove all rape cases from the chains of command and give them Judge Advocate General Corps. How long did these women have to be kept quiet and ignore what happened to them because they were told too? Our government keeps a lot of hush regarding to our military and our soldiers. This bill will help any women soldiers be protected from any unforeseen circumstances. Its great a bill that has not been passed yet but has good chances to go through if not there’s another problem in this system. These women are volunteering to protect us and offer their services but according to Newsweek women are more likely to be assaulted than dying on combat. Although this bill is great there is still a lot of work ahead where these women wont even have to worry about being that situation . It’s a shame that the government doesn’t pay more attention to what’s going on with our soldiers, we as a country need to help them while they are protecting us if not how can go to bed soundly ?

 Gumdrops and Lollipops

I agree with your conclusion , it is not the politician who is to blame but instead it is the people which voted such suitors in the first place. Our public needs to be further aware of what's going on and who is going to office  this will make our government a better functioning system. complaining about the government is easier than actually participating and doing you're part in this country. Nice way to explain your opinion and dissecting the article of Professor Reynolds.

The Forgotten Bill

The Forgotten Bill

Hello Bill S.744 it seems your 5 minutes of fame is about to come to an end I wish you went down with a fight but frankly you didn’t most likely you would wither like a rose of a scorned lover that died of disappointment and lost hopes. This bill is the epitomy of faith that many immigrant, illegal and legal, who have been asking for a chance that allows many opportunities for someone to be a part of this country and adds extensive security on our borders. Since April 16, 2013, Bill S 744 has been rolling up hill gathering enough votes in the Senate Judiciary Committee by a 68-32 and pushing it forward to the House of Representatives in which many have some issues with certain aspects and look forward to modify the bill which can take up too many months. The bills journey was really a nail bitter that had many on the edges of their seats and of course many people on their knees praying for an outcome that doesn’t need a supernatural push but instead what it needs is more alertness and for the House of Representatives to see this issues as not as an agenda or topic in which they keep promising in every election but as an issue on which millions are being effected. The House of Representatives is compromised with majority of orthodox conservatives that oppose any immigration reform unless such reform calls for major deportation (sorry Jesus and Maria) and the majority of its members would reshape the bill to something completely new. Oh and guess what? The majority of people who are going to be affected most by this bill will Hispanics and guess who they tend to lean most to? That’s right the Democratic side, so allowing many to become citizens in the future means less Conservatives in the seats of the house. This bill was generated not only thru Democrats but Republicans as well who mostly make up the group that proposed the bill and by coming together on such a major issue you can tell the gravity of the situation so why can’t they all work together (wishful thinking). It’s not a bill that rewards undocumented immigrants, it’s a national concern in which our future borders and patrol are more equipped with handling situations more profusely and allowing a wider range of time for work visas. The bill can’t fade into the crowded agendas of politicians, it’s a concern that has been put off too many times in the back burner and frankly affects us all but mostly those who want to be a part of this country, the right way so House of Representatives give them chance.

Hypocrisy from The Chamber of Commerce , Donahue

Jed Lewison Senior Political writer for the Daily Kos, graduated from Yale University and was communication director for Senator Maria Cantwell from Washington (Democrat) author of Chamber of Commerce CEO taunts Ted Cruz as a useless, ineffective hack article in which he discuses the recent comment from the Chamber of Commerce about Ted Cruz recent actions in the Government shutdown. The irony of Chamber of Commerce CEO calling Ted Cruz ineffective is almost comical because the way the author sees it The Chamber of Commerce CEO hasn’t done anything to get the government up and running and the Republicans part of bluffing on defaulting is anything but helpful. Not only does the article discuses the double standards of the republican party but also according to the quote from Bruce Josten the chamber’s top lobbyist (quote Jed provide) “hopeful the House and Senate will go to conference, [and] have the president sign” referring to the immigration reform which if you haven’t paid attention to the news lately is on hold because they haven’t approved of the sentiments which  again the author points out the republicans hypocrisy. In the end it comes down to the republicans if they wanted things to work (government and the immigration bill) they would allow if not cooperate with the Democratic Party to make things happen. The author intended audience is for those who will agree with him which is the left side of the political spectrum the Liberals , his views will only bounce of those who are opposed say to the health care reform and instead only sink in and add fuel to those who think just like him. Personally as I must say I agree with dear Jed Lewison views but frankly my opinion on the matter won’t mean a thing because I already belong in the numbers of the liberals it only matters if the republicans understand that by simply not doing anything it is more harmful than helpful to the public.

War and Baked Beans : The young generation and the Government

Robert Olmstead is a journalist and author for The New York Times whose work varies from books to news articles. Olmstead takes the conflict of Syria and goes beyond the aspect of war but instead discusses a new victim in the situation the youth group. His perspective is unique and different from other people his age who most of the time have very strict opinion on the younger generation instead he proposes that the older generation and the government are hurting the younger generation exposing them continuously to war. His background also as a teacher hints at how he relates or perhaps understand both side of the situation making his arguments more concrete. Olmsted description of his past and the memory of his mother’s beans sets the tone for the article as he compares the past to the presents to what was the good ol’ days. Not only does his memories present reflection they also serve as comparison to what the government is doing and Olden presents simple solution that will take care of the issue .His opinion could get a lot of approval from the younger generation because he presents them as the naïve and hopeful generation. The younger generation as he says are being left with the consequences of the decisions the government and are left with debt that a government shutdown can’t fix. Robert Olden “War and Baked Beans” is very much an interesting article with a different take on results of conflict that consider the possible  dilemmas that are left for the younger generation to deal with a view in which many people have forgotten who is going to be left to deal with such consequences.
